Men's Basketball Falls to NYIT on Senior Day

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 2, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team fell to the visiting New York Institute of Technology, 75-56, this afternoon.

The Redhawks, who were playing in front of a large Senior Day crowd, kept things close throughout the first half and actually took the lead with 13:17 remaining after a pair of Mike Stone free-throws.

It would be the Bears who were able to pull away down the stretch as the visitors used a 12-2 over the next four minutes to secure a sizable lead.

Patrick Downer led the Redhawks with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The forward went 4 of 9 from the field and 5 of 6 at the line.

Freshman Tyrel Dixon added 12 points as Devin Grimes and Mike Stone each added 10 points.

As a team, Roberts Wesleyan shot just 33.3% from the field while the Bears shot 55.4%.

The loss drops Roberts Wesleyan to 7-19 overall and 4-14 in the East Coast Conference.

The team will host Houghton College this Wednesday at 8pm in the NCCAA East Region game. The winner will advance to the NCCAA National Tournament at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind.
