Men's Lacrosse Travels Saturday to Face Chestnut Hill

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 21, 2013) – The Men's Lacrosse team meets Chestnut Hill (Pa.) College for the first time on Saturday in Philadelphia at 3:30pm for an East Coast Conference match-up.
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (3-4/0-1 ECC)
The Redhawks come into the game having dropped their first-ever conference game this past Saturday, falling to LIU Post, 7-5. Matt Hamilton set a program record 18 saves to keep the visitors in the game after facing a total of 43 shots by the Pioneers.
 
Freshman Dom Cianfarano continues to lead the Redhawks on offense with his current tally of 30 points (23 goals, 7 assists). The attackman ranks second in the ECC in goals and fourth in points while leading the conference in shots.
 
As a team, Roberts Wesleyan is third in the conference in goals scored with a total of 69 through seven games. Molloy College leads the ECC with 98 goals with Mercy College sitting in second with 87 goals.
 
Anthony Nucci Lauria leads the ECC in faceoffs won with 78 wins out of 133 attempts. The sophomore has a faceoff winning percentage of .586 on the season.
 
SCOUTING CHESTNUT HILL (3-3/0-0 ECC)
The Griffins are riding a three-game home winning streak into Saturday's game. Their last home win was a thrilling 9-8 overtime win against the College of Saint Rose on Mar. 12. However, the team comes into the game having lost 13-8 to former ECC foe, Wheeling Jesuit (W.Va.) University last weekend.
 
On offense, junior Michael Melnychenko leads the team with 18 points (10 goals, 8 assists) through six games. Senior attackman Craig Owen leads Chestnut Hill with 11 goals. The Griffins like to spread the wealth as a total of 16 players have scored at least one goal this season.
 
In goal, Dakota Maurer has started all six games while making a conference-best 73 saves. The senior holds a .529 save percentage while allowing 11.42 goals per game.

Roberts Wesleyan hosts No. 6 Dowling College, the defending national champions, Wednesday afternoon at 4pm.
 
Next Saturday, the Redhawks host Molloy College at 2pm. Last season, the Loins dominated Roberts Wesleyan 11-2 in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
