ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 26, 2013) – The Men's Lacrosse team will make history tomorrow afternoon as they play their first-ever home conference game.
The Redhawks will entertain No. 9 Dowling College, who are the reigning NCAA Division II national champions, at 4pm on the Turf Field. The game is also the first time any Roberts Wesleyan team has hosted a defending NCAA champion.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (3-5/0-2 ECC)
The Redhawks dropped their second conference game of the season on the road at Chestnut Hill (Pa.) College18-8, on Saturday. Freshmen
Dom Cianfarano and #
Ian Nash# each scored twice while notching one assists to lead Roberts Wesleyan in the loss.
Cianfarano currently sits at third place in the conference rankings with 33 points (25 goals, 8 assists) through eight games this season. The attackman is also third in shots on goal thus far with a total of 41.
Matt Hamilton has been solid in goal with 71 saves, putting him fourth in the ECC in that category.
SCOUTING DOWLING (4-2/0-1 ECC)
The Golden Lions dropped their East Coast Conference opener on Saturday at home to Mercy College, 10-8. The defending national champions trailed the Mavericks 9-3 late in the third period before reeling off five of the last six goals to make it a competitive game.
Matt Crough, a junior, leads Dowling on offense with his team-high 25 points (17 goals, 8 assists). Tom Cleary is second on the team in goals with a total of 16 through six games. Michael Brennan is second in points with 18 (8 goals, 10 assists).
Junior goalkeeper Myles Harvey has logged the majority of minutes between the pipes for Dowling this season. He has a .600 saves percentage while allowing just 7.34 goals per game.
UP NEXT
Roberts Wesleyan has a quick turnaround as they host No. 11 Molloy College this Saturday at 2pm.
Three days later on Tuesday, the Redhawks welcome second-ranked Mercyhurst (Pa.) University for a 7pm game.
The team then hits the road for four games before returning home on Apr. 27 when they host No. 9 NYIT.
