Men's Lacrosse: Early Goals Doom Redhawks in Loss to No. 9 Dowling

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 27, 2013) – The Men's Lacrosse team fell to No. 9 Dowling College this afternoon, 15-6. The game marked the first time the Redhawks has host a nationally ranked team and a defending national champion.

Roberts Wesleyan started out the game by conceding eight goals to the Golden Lions before Sean Cone put the home team on the scoreboard with less than a minute left in the first period.

After Tim Davidson scored his first goal of the season to make it an 8-2 game, the Dowling would score the next four goals to help solidify the lead to put the game away.

Cone finished the game with two goals off of just two shots for the Redhawks while freshman Dom Cianfarano scored once to go along with an assist.

Matt Hamilton, who faced 30 shots, made 10 saves in the loss after playing all 60 minutes between the pipes.

Dowling's Tom Cleary scored a game-high four goals and made one assist.

The loss drops the Redhawks to 3-6 on the year and 0-3 in the East Coast Conference.

Roberts Wesleyan hosts No. 11 Molloy College on Saturday at 2pm. The game is the second game of a doubleheader with the Women's team playing at 11am.
