Men's Basketball Downs Houghton to Win NCCAA East Region Crown

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 6, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team defeated Houghton College, 72-43, to capture the NCCAA East Region title.

The win gives the Redhawks the region's automatic bid to the NCCAA National Tournament, which runs Mar. 13-16 on the campus of Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind.

Roberts Wesleyan led from start to finish as 10 players scored for the home team.

Leading the way was William Bromirski, who scored 20 points after hitting six shots from beyond the arc. Perhaps even more impressive is the freshman scored those points in just 16 minutes of action.

Fellow freshman Tyrel Dixon added 12 points while hauling six rebounds for the Redhawks. Dixon shot 60% after going 6 of 10 from the field.

As a team, Roberts Wesleyan shot 44.3% from the field and out rebounded the Highlanders 42 to 32.

Houghton's Chris Confair and Mark O'Brien each scored 10 points. O'Brien was 5 of 11 from the field and notched three assists.

The Redhawks will now wait to find out their seeding in the competitive eight-team tournament.
