ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 8, 2013) – The Men's Lacrosse team hosts Walsh (Ohio) University Saturday afternoon at 2pm in non-conference action.
The game is the first of a doubleheader as the Women's Lacrosse team hosts Edinboro (Pa.) Universty at 4:30pm.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (2-3/0-0 ECC)
The Redhawks fell to No. 2 Le Moyne College, 19-5, in Syracuse, N.Y. on Wednesday. The game marked the first meeting between the two programs.
Brett Capps led the way for Roberts Wesleyan by scoring a hat-trick of off just four shots. In goal,
Matt Hamilton made 14 saves after facing a season high 68 shots.
Freshman
Dom Cianfarano was named ECC Rookie of the Week last week and continues to lead the conference in scoring with 17 goals. Cianfarano also leads the ECC with 44 total shots.
Faceoff specialist
Anthony Nucci Lauria has won 51 faceoffs thus far, holding a .537 win percentage.
SCOUTING WALSH (0-0/0-0 ECAC)
Walsh, who are former NAIA and American Mideast Conference rivals, make their varsity debut after having been a club team for the last three seasons. The Cavaliers are set to compete in the new ECAC Division II Lacrosse Conference alongside former ECC associate members Mercyhurst College, Wheeling Jesuit University, and Seton Hill University.
Junior attackman Mason Axline led the Cavaliers last season with a team-high 47 points (31 goals, 16 assists) through eight games.
Goalkeeper Jeff Balzano returns for his junior season after playing six games in 2012. Balzano posted a .513 saves percentage will allowing 9.16 goals per game.
UP NEXT
Roberts Wesleyan hits the road for their next two games as they begin East Coast Conference play. The Redhawks will visit LIU Post next Saturday, Mar. 16 for a 1pm match-up before visiting Chestnut Hill College the following Saturday for a 3:30pm game.
The team returns home Wednesday, Mar. 27 when they host defending national champions Dowling College at 4pm.
