ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 9, 2013) – Freshman
Dom Cianfarano and
Seth Miller each scored five goals to pace the Redhawks as they defeated Walsh (Ohio) University, 18-8, this afternoon.
The Redhawks led from the start with Cianfarano scored just three minutes into the game to open up the scoring.
Both Cianfarano and Miller scored twice in the first period, helping to give the home team an early 6-2 lead. Roberts Wesleyan would score four more times in the second period to go into halftime with a commanding 10-4 lead.
After trading goals in the third period, the Redhawks outscored Walsh 6 to 2 in the final period to secure their sixth straight home win.
Miller was impressive after scoring five goals of just seven shots in addition to winning all three of his faceoffs. The freshman was second on the team with eight groundballs.
Anthony Nucci Lauria won 19 of 24 faceoffs while picking up a team-high nine groundballs.
Senior
Tyler Kleehammer notched three goals as
Craig Petit added a pair for the Redhawks.
In goal, freshman
Keith Keehn earned the win after making four saves in the first half.
The Cavaliers, who were playing their first-ever varsity game, was led by Mason Axline's four goals.
The win improved the Redhawks overall record to 3-3 on the season.
Roberts Wesleyan opens up East Coast Conference play next Saturday when they travel to take on LIU Post in Brookeville, N.Y. Game time is scheduled for 1pm.
