ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 13, 2013) -  The Men's Tennis team closed out their East Coast Conference slat with a hard-fought 5-4 win over Queens College this afternoon.
Sam Thorold sealed the win for the Redhawks by defeating the Knights' Andre Pellegrino at fourth singles. Earlier in the match, Thorold and freshman Charlie Farres combined for an 8-6 victory at first doubles as they edged Christopher Baron and Younes Hidass. 
Julio Toledo and 
Jordan Sadowitz defeated Alexander Morris and Adam Pizow of Queens to open the scoring before the Knights  closed the gap with a victory at second doubles. 
Farres extended the lead with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Baron at third singles as 
Emanuel Rauchle extended the Redhawks  lead to 4-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Pizow at sixth singles.
Queens came back with Morris defeating 
Robert Beer  4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at fifth singles and Younes Hidass notching a win at first singles over 
Beka Buchukuri 6-2, 6-4. 
This set the stage for Thorold's win.  After losing the first set 6-2, Thorold rebounded with a 6-4 second set victory before outlasting Pellegrino 7-5 in the third set to clinch the win. 
“This was a quality college level tennis match with both teams fighting hard for every point,” said Coach 
Tom Linhart. “I am very proud of how we played and the focus it took to rebound and play so well today after a tough loss to NYIT on Friday.  The school should be proud of all these young men have accomplished.”
The Redhawks ran their record to 16-5 overall and 3-2 in ECC action. The team is also 10-2 against NCAA Division II competition this year and 7-2 in the NCAA East Region. 
Roberts Wesleyan is back in action on Wednesday when they host Oswego State.
