CEDARVILLE, Ohio (September 14, 2013) – The Women's Soccer team fell 3-1 on the road to the Yellowjackets of Cedarville University.
The visitors fell behind quickly after Cedarville's Jacoby Ziegler sent her shot to the back of the net from inside the 18-yard box in the first minute of play.
However, it took less than six minutes for the Redhawks to respond when
Ellie Swan sent her shot sailing past goalkeeper Hanna Harris to the far post. The goal was Sawn's third of the year.
The score remained 1-1 until the 44
th minute when Roberts Wesleyan allowed an own goal to give the Yellowjackts the lead going into halftime.
With just four minutes remaining, Cedarville added the insurance goal when Grace Miorelli scored to give the home team a 3-1 lead.
As a team, Roberts Wesleyan was outshot 17 to 9 as Cedarville managed eight shots on goal compared to the Redhawks' five shots on goal.
Despite the result, goalkeeper
Marissa Sell recorded five save to keep the team in the game.
The loss drops Roberts Wesleyan to 3-2 on the season as they now have a week to prepare for their East Coast Conference
opener.
The team will host Molloy College on Friday with first kick scheduled for 5pm.
