Volleyball Splits Two Matches at LIU Post

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (September 21, 2013) – The Volleyball team split a pair of matches this afternoon on the campus of LIU Post.

In their opening match against the hosts, Roberts Wesleyan fell 27-25, 25-20, 25-12 to the Pioneers in their East Coast Conference opener.

Freshman outside hitter Alexandre Tahauri led the Redhawks with a team-high 11 kills as Jordan Wilson posted eight in the match.

Sophomore setter Maggie Concannon recorded 28 assists in the match as Becca Maher picked up 12 digs.

In a non-conference match against Shepherd (W.Va) University, the Redhawks won in straight sets with scores of 25-19, 27-25, 25-19.

Kendall Havener was a force on defense for Roberts Wesleyan as she record five blocks (2 solo, 3 assisted) to go along with six kills.

Tahauri added a team-best 10 kills in the win as Wilson had nine. Concannon finished the match with an impressive 31 assists for the Redhawks.

With the split, the Redhawks are now 3-4 overall and slip to 0-1 as they start conference play.

The team will try to even their record tomorrow as they visit New York Institute of Technology for a 12pm match.
