Alfred, N.Y. (October 24, 2014) – The men's soccer team blew past Alfred State this evening in non conference play. The win gives Coach
Mark Fish his 100
th win.
Alfred held off Roberts Wesleyan for the first twenty four minutes of play,
Logan Wood scored first for the Redhawks assisted by senior
Stephen Stewart. Alfred would stave off the Redhawks for the rest of the half.
The second half started slow, Roberts Wesleyan did not convert until the 71
st minute;
Garth Brungard would score his first goal of the season off another pass by
Stephen Stewart. The Redhawks pounded out a definitive win in the final minutes of play when
Alex Loete scored both of the final goals in the 84
th and the 89
th minute to end the match. He was assisted by
Scott Carson and
Michael Cunningham. Cunningham currently leads the ECC in assists with eight for the season.
Goalies
Michael Scavone and
John Ciavaglia had an easy night in goal as the Redhawk defense only allowed two shots total by Alfred. Only one shot was on goal and was saved by Scavone.
The win advances Roberts Wesleyan to 9-4-2, they are currently 4-4 in the ECC.
The Redhawks continue on the road to play past NCCAA rival Houghton College this Tuesday October 28
th at 7pm.
