ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2014) – The Men's Soccer team earned a lop-sided 6-0 win at home this evening against St. Thomas Aquinas in East Coast Conference play.
The Redhawks used a three-goal burst in the first half to pull away from the Spartans as
Damien Pagano scored in the 22
nd minute before
Stephen Stewart add two goal in as many minutes.
Cameron Stewart then got in on the scoring in the 29
th minute with a screaming shot from 25 yards out to make it a 4-0 lead going into the break.
In the second half, Micheal Cunningham netted his seventh goal of the season in the 66
th minute before freshman
Alex Loete scored his first career goal with just nine minutes remaining in the game.
In all, the Redhawks outshot St. Thomas Aquinas by just one shot, 18-17, but managed to put 10 shots on goal compared to the Spartans' five.
Goalkeeper
Michael Scavone shared the shutout with
John Ciavaglia as the duo made five saves in the win.
Roberts Wesleyan's record now stands at 5-2-2 overall and 2-2-0 in the ECC. The team is back in action this Sunday when they host Mercy at 3:30pm.
