Men's Soccer Comes From Behind to Defeat Saint Rose, 2-1

Roberts Wesleyan won on the road to earn their third-straight victory

ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2014) – The Men's Soccer team extended their winning streak to three games with a 2-1 road win at the College of Saint Rose this evening.

Roberts Wesleyan also extracted a bit of revenge with the win after falling to the Golden Knights at home, 5-1, last season.

Saint Rose did get on the board first when Nick Iuorno beat Michael Scavone in the 39th minute for his third goal of the season. The lead wouldn't last long for Saint Rose as  Michael Cunningham netted the equalizer in the 43rd minute from a from a pass from Logan Wood.

After going into halftime tied 1-1, Roberts Wesleyan eventually got the game-winner from Stephen Stewart in the 69th minute. Stewart's goal was assisted by Cunningham, who now has 23 points (8 goals, 7 assists) this season.

In goal, Scavone was credited with five saves to help the Redhawks earn the win, which puts their overall record at 7-2-2.

The game was also very physical as there were a total of 42 fouls and a combined five yellow cards.

The Redhawks are back in action this Saturday when they resume conference play at Daemen at 3pm.
