Rochester, N.Y. (November 2, 2014) – The Women's Soccer team beat the visiting NYIT Bears this afternoon in ECC action. The game was also senior day for the Redhawks; seniors
Marissa Sell,
Jackie Corbett,
Maggie King and
Kate Perry were honored before the game.
Roberts Wesleyan came out hard firing their first of 18 shots within seconds of the start.
Bella Mitrevski scored the Redhawks first goal in the 15
th minute, she chipped NYIT's goalie after bringing down a chipped ball from defender
Taylor Fletcher. The first half ended 1-0 Redhawks.
Roberts Wesleyan was determined to get a solid win this afternoon. Mitrevski scored her second goal of the game and 15
th goal of the season off of a punt from Senior Keeper
Marissa Sell 15 minutes into the second half.
Marissa Sell made two saves in goal; she currently leads the ECC in saves. Roberts Wesleyan's third goal came minutes later. Mitrevski had a free kick just outside the 18 yard box on the right side; after a scuffle in front of the box
Samantha Moreno put the ball in the back of the net. Roberts Wesleyan's final goal was scored near post by
Jodi Kester off a through ball from
Amanda Morelli.
Roberts Wesleyan's record is now 9-9 overall and 3-6 in the ECC.
