Men's Basketball Takes Down District of Columbia

Washington, D.C. (February 16, 2014) – The Men's Basketball team was on the road this weekend to take on University of the District of Columbia 76 -62 this afternoon in conference play.


The Redhawks quickly took the lead and held it.  A layup by junior forward Isaac Medeiros put Roberts on the board. Medeiros lead Roberts and scored a game high 24 points he also lead in rebounds earning a double double with 11 rebounds.  


UDC's  first points fame from a jumper by Prince Ritson, Roberts answered seconds later with a 3 pointer from Senior Patrick Downer.  Downer also had the layup that gave Roberts their largest lead of 22 with 2:50 left in the first half. Downer also earned a double double posting 15 points and 10 rebounds.  The half ended 37 – 21.  


Roberts held the lead throughout the second half, not allowing UDC to get within 10. In addition to Medeiros and Downer Tyrel Dixon also notched a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.


As a team the Redhawks shot 40% from the field,  38% from outside the arc and 80% from the line.


The win brings Roberts record to 10 -12 and 6- 10 in the ECC.


Roberts plays at home Friday February 21 at 8pm they take on University of Bridgeport.
