Men's Tennis Takes Down Edinboro 7 -2

Erie, Pa. (March 14, 2014) – The Redhawks defeated the Fighting Scots, 7-2 Friday afternoon in non conference play. ESU, ranked 7th in the Atlantic Division, was the second ranked team to fall to the Redhawks this week.

Senior Sam Thorold beat Edinboro's Bruno Borja 6-3 6-4 at third singles to clinch the win for the Redhawks. Thorold is undefeated in singles action this spring with nine straight victories. Charlie Farres defeated Estepa 6-0. 6-2 at second singles and Julio Toledo extended Roberts lead with a 7-5. 6-0 win over Duncan at fourth singles. This set the stage for Thorold's clincher at 3rd singles.

In doubles, Farres and Thorold extended their unbeaten doubles streak this spring to nine. They had an 8-4 win at first doubles over Matais Aignasse and Juan Estepa. Senior Julio Toledo and Beka Buchukuri then put the Redhawks on top for good with a thrilling 9-8- tiebreaker victory at second doubles.

The Redhawks travel to Olean, NY to take on Division I opponent St. Bonaventure University at 4pm Sunday March 16th.
