Golden Goal Gives Women's Lacrosse the Win at Bridgeport

Bridgeport CT ( March 15, 2014) – The women's Lacrosse team edged by Bridgeport 14-13 in an overtime win this afternoon in conference play.
The redhawks started out behind, but a goal by sophomore Loren Dunn tied it up, the game would go on like this throughout the match. Dunn ended the game with 2 goals, both in the first half. The half would end 7-6 Bridgeport.  Ali Fox, who contributed the second goal for Roberts, would go on to score 4 goals and win 5 of Roberts 19 draw controls. She was 2-3 on free position shots.
 
Lauren Marks and Kelsey Covel each had 1 assists, Covel also contributed 2 goals. Offensively Roberts out shot Bridgeport hammering their goalie with 31 shots compared to Bridgeport's 25.
 
Defensively Billie Jo Marr and Savannah Tucker lead the Redhawks in ground balls each contributing 4. Goalie Victoria Link had  8 Saves.
 
Early in the second half, Cassley Jackowski put one away for the Redhawks to tie it up. Jackowski scored 3 goals for Roberts and was a perfect 1-1 for free position shots. With about 4:30 left in the game Senior Alison Kendall scored unassisted to put Roberts up 13- 12 and it looked as if the Redhawks were going to be able to hold of Bridgeport for the win. Bridgeport's Emily Cataloano scored in the last 13 seconds of play to push the game to overtime.


Alison Kendall would score the game winner for Roberts unassisted, she ended the game with 3 goals and 4 draw controls.
 
The win puts the Redhawks at 3-5 and 1-1 in the ECC. They play at home this Monday March 17th at 4pm where they'll take on  Le Moyne College.
