Redhawks Defeat St Thomas Aquinas and Queens on the Road

Sparkill, N.Y. (April 12, 2014) - The Redhawks Defeat Queens and St Thomas Aquinas in Successful Weekend Away 
 
On Friday the Redhawks defeated ECC rivals St Thomas Aquinas 8-1. Roberts swept the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead, then went on to win five of the six singles matches.  The win put them at 3-1 in the ECC going in to a showdown at Queens College, who were ranked #6 in the NCAA DII East Region.

 

In the Queens match Julio Toledo, Rob Beer, Beka Buchukuri  and Emanuel Rauchle were all double winners as the RWC Men's Tennis team defeated Queens College 7-2.  Queens was the second ranked conference rival the Redhawks have defeated in the last week.
 
Beer and Rauchle started the scoring with an 8-0 win at 3rd doubles.  Queens evened the match with a tight 9-8 win at 1st doubles.  Toledo and Buchukuri put the Redhawks back on top with a 9-8 win at second doubles.
 
The Redhawks dominated in singles play.  Beer and Rauchle easily won their matches at 5th and 6th singles.  Toledo clinched the match with a 6-1. 6-2 win over Kevin Burgess at 4th singles. Sam Thorold and Charlie Farres closed out the match with straight set wins at 3rd and 2nd singles.  Farres has now extended his winning streak in singles to 11 matches and is undefeated in ECC play.
 
Coach Tom Linhart was happy with the weekend saying  "We had a great weekend, and now need to stay focused and defeat Daemen on Tuesday to clinch the second spot in the ECC for the second year in a row."

The Men are now 4-1 in conference play. They play at Daemen this Tuesday at 4pm.
