OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (April 5, 2014) – The Men's Lacrosse team fell to No. 11 New York Institute of Technology, 19-3, in East Coast Conference action this afternoon.
The visiting Redhawks fell behind 6-1 after the first 15 minutes and were unable to mount any sort of comeback.
With the loss, Roberts Wesleyan has now lost all three of their games to nationally ranked opponents.
A trio of newcomers led the Redhawks as junior transfer
Nick Wolak scored the first Roberts Wesleyan goal at the 4:29 mark of the first quarter.
With 3:45 left in the first half, freshman
Matt Benedict scored the second goal for the team. The Victoria, B.C.-native currently has 29 points (18 goals, 11 assists) through nine games and is second on the team in both points and goals. He leads the Redhawks in assists.
Fellow freshman
Jordan Crusha rounded out the scoring with his second goal of the season coming with just 2:26 left in the game.
The home-standing Bears were led by attackman Luke Miller's six goals and five assists. The of his goals came in the first half while adding four of his assists also came in the first 30 minutes.
Roberts Wesleyan, who slip to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the ECC have a day off before visiting No. 13 Molloy College on Monday at 4pm.
