ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Sep. 11, 2014) – The Women's Soccer team hosts national No.5 Saint Rose this Saturday at 2pm in a battle of two unbeaten teams.

The Redhawks have started out 2-0-0 as they downed Le Moyne and Nyack in their opening week.

The Redhawks are firing on all cylinders up top, having scored 10 goals in just two games. Sophomore forward
Bella Mitrevski was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for scoring four goals and adding three assists over two games. Mitrevski leads the ECC in points (11), goals (4), assists (3), and shots (14).

Orla Martin was named ECC Rookie of the Week by starting her career with three goals over the games.

SCOUTING SAINT ROSE (3-0-0/0-0-0 NE-10)Saint Rose comes into the game having won a nail-biter against Mercy on Tuesday. After taking a 1-0 lead at the 16th minute when Carmelina Puopolo scored on a one-touch shot, Mercy evened the score early in the second half. After going into the second overtime period, Saint Rose got their game-winner with just 12 seconds remaining when Puopolo tapped a shot home off of a cross into the area.

The win puts Saint Rose at 3-0-0 on the early season as they have out-scored their opponents 14-1.

Puopolo leads the Golden Knights with 12 points (5 goals, 2 assists) thus far. Morgan Burchhardt is second with 6 points (2 goals, 2 assists). In goal, Ashley Homer has played all 289 minutes for Saint Rose, recording two clean sheets while holding an impressive 0.857 saves percentage. She has allowed just one goal over the three games.

Saint Rose, who has been a national powerhouse the last decade, won the 2011 NCAA Division II national championship. Their head coach, Laurie Darling Gutheil, is nearing her 300th career win, as she currently has 280 wins through 18 seasons.

UP NEXTThe Redhawks continue their home stand next Tuesday when they entertain No. 17 Gannon. The game against the Golden Knights is scheduled for 5pm. The team then hits the road, starting with a trip to No. 11 Bridgeport next Friday.
