ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Sep. 20, 2014) – Despite
Kendall Havener recording a match-high 16 kills, Roberts Wesleyan was unable to earn a win as they fell to Dowling this afternoon in four sets (23-25, 25-17, 25-27, 17-25).
Havener, along with
Courtney Taylor and
Jordan Wilson who each had 14 kills, were productive on offense for the Redhawks. However the team committed 10 serve errors and 25 attack errors en route to the home loss.
Wilson put together a spectacular showing up top as she recorded a .481 hitting percentage with 14 kills off of just 27 attempts to go along with just one error.
For Havener, the middle blocker added two aces along with four blocks (1 solo, 3 assisted) for the Redhawks.
Taylor, who continues to lead Roberts Wesleyan in kills (127), tallied 14 kills in the match that saw the Redhawks record 59 compared to the Golden Lions' 48 kills. The home team also posted a higher hitting percentage with .228 in comparison to Dowling's .215.
The loss puts Roberts Wesleyan at 1-2 in the East Coast Conference while slipping to 5-5 overall. The team is off until next Saturday when they host Mercy at 11am. The match is a part of Roberts Wesleyan's annual Homecoming festivities.
