Women’s Soccer Ends Weekend Away with a Loss

Oakdale, N.Y. (September 21, 2014) – The Women's soccer team fell 2-0 this afternoon in a conference match up against Dowling College.

The first half was abysmal  for the Redhawks, they were unable to get any shots, as Dowling's offense hounded the Redhawk defense with 10 shots.  Dowling's first goal also came within the first 15 minutes of play when offender Lindsay Thomas fired in a blocked shot near post.

The game was physical with nine fouls on Roberts Wesleyan and 14 for Dowling.  Dowling outnumbered Roberts Wesleyan in corners and in shots, recording five and 18 respectively to the Redhawks two and two.

The second half started with another Dowling goal off a corner less than ten minutes into play.  This time the Redhawks would answer firing two shots by Taylor Fletcher and Heaven Palamitia, both were saved by the Dowling keeper.

Redhawk goalie, Marissa Sell recorded seven saves for the match.
 
The loss puts Roberts Wesleyan at 3-3-0 for the season

The Redhawks are on the road again this Wednesday September 24, to play Saint Anselm College. The game starts at 4pm.
