ALBANY, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2014) – The Women's Soccer team fell on the road this afternoon, 1-0, after playing to a scoreless result in regulation against Saint Anselm in a neutral site game.
The Hawks, who improved to 3-1-1, got their goal in the 96
th minute when Alexis Elowitch sent her shot to the back of the net after finding the ball 20 yards out on the right flank.
Saint Anselm pressured
Marissa Sell and the Roberts Wesleyan defense in the first half before the Redhawks managed to put pressure on the Hawks near the end of the game. However, it was Saint Anselm who held the advantage on shots, shots on goal, and corner kicks.
In all, Sell was credited with making 12 saves over 97 minutes for the Redhawks. On the year, the senior has 45 saves through seven games.
Five players managed to put one shot on goal with freshman
Taylor Fletcher leading the way with three shots in total.
With the loss, Roberts Wesleyan slips to 3-4-0 on the year. They continue their run of three non-conference game this Saturday at Homecoming when the Redhawks host Maine-Ft. Kent at 1pm.
