CLEVELAND, Ohio – Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball used excellent long range shooting to earn a 72-65 win over Cleveland State in an exhibition this evening.
Roberts Wesleyan, playing against a Division I opponent for the first time since the 2013-14 season, shot an even 50 percent from the field by hitting 9 of 18 from beyond the arc.
Sophomore
Lucy Covley led the Redhawks with 20 points after going 7 of 10 from the field, including 6 of 9 from three-point range. The guard also picked up five assists to go along with a block and a steal.
Fellow sophomore
Necedah James added 14 points, hitting 5 of 8 from the field while adding four assists and two steals to her credit.
Senior forward
Samantha Courtney chipped in 12 points while leading Roberts Wesleyan with seven rebounds.
The exhibition against the Vikings was the final tune-up as Roberts Wesleyan opens the season at home against Nyack this Friday at 8 p.m. at the Voller Athletic Center.
