OAKDALE, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball rode a 26-point first quarter to hang on for a 65-57 win at Dowling Saturday afternoon.
The victory is the tenth of the season, as the Redhawks were led by
Samantha Courtney's 23 points and 17 rebounds.
How It HappenedRoberts Wesleyan led from start to finish for the second straight game as they opened the game with a 26-point first quarter.
The Redhawks led by as much as 15 points in the first when
Brooke Fields drained a three-pointer with less than three minutes remaining.
Dowling responded with a 21-12 second quarter, but it was enough as the Redhawks held on for the lead in the second half by limiting Dowling just 26 field goal attempts.
Key StatDowling managed to go to the free-throw line just three times in the entire game, finishing the day 1 of 3.
Inside the Numbers- Courtney matched her single-game personal record of 17 rebounds, which she first set on Dec. 11 against District of Columbia.
