ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After leading from start to finish, Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball cruised to a 74-48 win at home against Mercy.
The Redhawks pressured the visitors in a full court press often in the game, forcing Mercy to turn the ball over 20 times, which led to 27 points off of the Mavericks miscues.
Both Lucy Covely and
Brooke Fields led the team with 16 points.
Covely hit four of her six field goals from beyond the arc for the Redhawks, who shot 34.5 percent from the point-range as a team. Fields was a force defensively, stealing the ball seven times, a career-high.
Fellow sophomore guard
Necedah James was right behind with 15 points as she went 5 of 7 from the field and a perfect 2 of 2 at the free-throw line.
Samantha Courtney grabbed 12 rebounds to go along with her eight points while blocking three shots.
Roberts Wesleyan, who are a perfect 7-0 all-time against the Mavericks, improved to 11-1 overall and 3-1 in the ECC.
The team is back in action tomorrow when they host St. Thomas Aquinas at 2 p.m.
