MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 16, 2015) – The Redhawks started the season off right with a win over Florida Tech, 19-11, this evening.
Roberts Weskleyan (1-0) were the first to put points up and continued to hold the lead the entire game. Florida Tech (0-1) had a late run in the second half, but it was not enough to top the Redhawks.
Sophomore attacker
Cassley Jackowski led the team with eight goals out of ten shots and add two assists for a 10 point total.
Loren Dunn was also a main contributor as she added five goals and one assist to the night.
Maddi Chille chipped in two goals and two assists, while
Ali Fox tallied two goals and one assist to help the Redhawks secure their season opener win.
In goal, sophomore
Shannon Knapp had 10 saves, seven groundballs and two caused turnovers.
"From the first draw, the girls came out with focus and intensity that was going to be needed against the young, but talented Florida Tech" said Head Coach
Kate Sedgwick. "We had some breakdowns at a few points in the game, but all fixable fundamentals that we will continue to work on moving forward. For the season opener, I could not be more proud of our performance tonight"
The Redhawks will wrap-up their Florida trip when they play St. Leo University on Wednesday, February 18
th  at 4 p.m
