Women's Basketball Takes Down Mercy, 71-58

The Redhawks had four players score in double digits

ROCHESTER, N.Y (February 20, 2015) - Tonight at the Voller Athletic Center, Roberts Wesleyan (17-5, 12-4 ECC) added another win to their record as they defeated Mercy (8-16, 2-15 ECC) for the second time this season.

Leading the team in points, Freshman Necedah James contributed 20 points. This was also her season high after she went 4 for 7 from the three-point line.

A Slow Start for the Redhawks
Mercy put points up back to back before the Redhawks were able to score. For the first 12 minutes of the game, Mercy was in control forcing the Redhawks to give their all. With seven minutes left in the first half, the Redhawks went on a 29-4 giving them a 17 point lead going into halftime. During this run, the Redhawks went 5 for 7 from the three-point line.

A Strong Second Half
The Redhawks continued to dominate in the second half. As Mercy attempted to make a come back, the Redhawks maintained a double digit lead. With 10 minutes left in the second half, Mercy went on a 14-5 point run, but that was not enough to overcome the Redhawks.

Senior forward Marissa Sell went into the second half three rebounds shy of her 1,000 career rebounds. With 14:39 left in the second half, Sell reached this milestone. "I am pretty excited, this is a big accomplishment. After it happened I had to take a second and refocus on the game" said Sell.

Head Coach Bob Segave noted, "We are so proud of Marissa. She continues to have a wonderful career here on and off the floor, representing herself, her team, her family, and the college. This is a tremendous accomplishment."

Key Players in Tonight's Game
Roberts Wesleyan had two players achieve double doubles. Marissa Sell had 11 points and 18 total rebounds. Coming off the bench, Christina Healy had 10 points and 10 rebounds. This was Healy's first double double of the season.

The Mavericks had two players score in the double digits. Deasia Goodson and Tanayzha Augustine both scored 15 points.

The Redhawks hope to continue on this win streak as they take on St. Thomas Aquinas tomorrow at 2pm.
