Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Dowling on Senior Day

Bermingham leads the Redhawks in scoring

Rochester, N.Y. (April 11, 2015) – The men's lacrosse team hosted Dowling College this afternoon in ECC action; the final score was 7-4 Dowling.
This was the final home game of the season for the Redhawks and also their Senior Game. The graduating seniors honored at the match were: midfielder Felix DeClercq, defender Chad Hardy, midfielder Brandon Wagner and defender Alex Williams.

The Redhawks started out the match going down to Dowling 2-0 in the first period. The Redhawks fought back in the second period scoring twice on man up opportunities. Matt Benedict scored first for the Redhawks assisted by Cody Lewis, Lewis also had four groundballs for the Redhawks.  The second goal for the Redhakws came shortly after by Dom Cianfarano assisted by Brady Bermingham. Roberts Wesleyan Then held Dowling to tied up 2-2 score until the final minutes of the second period. With a minute and a half to go, Dowling scored two more goals going up 4-2 to end the half.

The third period didn't see any scoring action till 7:58 when Birmingham put the Redhawks in a position to come back by scoring unassisted to bring the score to 3-4. The Golden Lions answered quickly and the period ended with Roberts Wesleyan down 3-5.  

 Dowling would not score again until the final five minutes of play to go up 6-3. The Redhawks fired back, Birmingham scored his second goal of the match with just over three minutes left in the game.  Downling held on to their lead scoring one more goal before the time ran out to end the game 4-7.

Defensively Adam Doviak had a team high of four caused turn overs he also had four ground balls. Senior Alex Williams had one caused turn over for the match and has 18 for the year.  Seth Miller won eight of 14 faceoffs and won six ground balls. In goal Keith Keehn came up big for the Redhawks with 19 saves one ground ball and one caused turn over.

The loss drops the Redhawks to 3-10 and 1-5 in the conference.

Roberts Wesleyan is on the road for their last two games of the season. They play Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia this Saturday April 18th at 1pm.
