Women's Lacrosse Downs Queens to Earn Eighth Win

The eight wins are the most in a season for a program in its fourth season

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 11, 2015) – Roberts Wesleyan earned their eighth win of the season this afternoon as they downed Queens, 19-6, which is the most win in a season for the young program.

The Redhawks, who had earned seven win the previous two seasons, are also guaranteed to finish 2015 with a winning record as they improved to 8-5 with just two games remaining.

Queens led early on after Janet Campo scored nine minutes into the game, putting the Knights up, 2-1. The lead would last for the visitors as the Redhawks scored four-straight to take a 5-2 lead. Roberts Wesleyan would score four more in the first half to make it a 9-5 game at the break.

Coming out of halftime, the Redhawks let loose, scoring seven-straight to increase their lead to 11 with 10:40 left to play. Over that stretch, Ali Fox, Loren Dunn, and Cassley Jacksowski all scored twice.

In all, both Dunn and Jackowski scored six times as Fox notched five goals to go along with three assits. For Dunn, the junior increased her season total to 47 goals.

In goal, Shannon Knapp made five saves over 47 minutes to earn the win. Fellow newcomer Victoria Del Nero finished out the game, making an additional save for the Redhawks.

Roberts Wesleyan improved to 3-3 in East Coast Conference play as they remain in the hunt for the fourth and final spot in the upcoming ECC tournament. The team travels to take on Mercy next Saturday at 1 p.m.
