DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (April 18, 2015) – Playing in their fifth overtime game of the season, Roberts Wesleyan fell to Mercy in a tight East Coast Conference meeting, 15-14.
The Redhawks broke a 12-12 stalemate when
Ali Fox scored with just 2:30 remaining in the second half, to put the visitors up by one. However, the Mavericks' Grace Davidson scored with just one second left on the clock in regulation to send the game into overtime.
In the extra sessions,
Cassley Jackowski netted her fourth goal of the game to give Roberts Wesleyan the lead first, but Mercy managed to score twice to pick up the win.
Loren Dunn paced the visitors with five goals as she now has 55 on the season. The junior also tallied three caused turnovers and four draw controls.
Jackowski finished with four goals and two assists as Fox notched two goals and three assists. In goal,
Shannon Knapp made 10 saves in the loss.
Roberts Wesleyan slips to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in conference play. The team is in a must-win situation when they host Dowling in the regular season finale this Saturday. The Redhawks are currently in fifth place as the top four teams advance to the ECC tournament.
Bridgeport resides in the fourth spot, and is just one game ahead of Roberts Wesleyan and Molloy.
