WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 25, 2015) – Roberts Wesleyan ended the season on a high note by scoring a season-high 18 goals against Dist. of Columbia at Georgetown's Multi-Sport Field.
The visiting Redhawks scored the first six goals of the game before the Firebirds' Chase Fraser stopped the onslaught at the 13:16 mark in the second quarter. Dist. of Columbia got two more back before Roberts Wesleyan scored another four goals before heading into halftime with a 9-5 lead.
In the third quarter, the Redhawks poured in seven goals to head into the final fifteen minutes with a commanding 16-6 advantage.
Over the final fifteen minutes,
Matt Benedict tallied two goals to round out the scoring for Roberts Wesleyan, who snapped a lengthy losing streak.
Junior attackman
Dom Cianfarano paced Roberts Wesleyan with a game-high six goals on 11 shots while Benedict notched four goals and a pair of assists.
Both
Mike Hubert and
Brady Bermingham scored a hat-trick as Hubert posted a game-high three assists.
In goal,
Keith Keehn was credited with making 15 stops before
Steven Keefer came in to make one save in relief.
