ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball bounced back Saturday afternoon with a 68-58 win over Molloy in East Coast Conference action.
Samantha Courtney scored a game-high 20 points while picking up the double-double with 14 rebounds. The senior forward also blocked five shots and had two assists.
Brooke Fields and
Lucy Covley each added 17 points as Covely went 5 of 10 from three-point range as well as hauling in eight boards and making three assists in the winning effort. Fields was a perfect 6 of 6 from the free-throw line as well as recording five assists and two steals.
The Redhawks led by as much as 18 points mid-way through the third quarter after going on a 21-0 run which started at the end of the second quarter. Â The visitors responded with a 15-2 run in the third quarter, but the Redhawks were able to hang on with effective free-throw shooting down the stretch.
As a team, Roberts Wesleyan shot 85.7 percent from the line, hitting 12 of 14 free-throws.
The win improved Roberts Wesleyan to 15-3 overall and 7-3 in conference action. They are off until next Sunday when they visit Dist. Columbia for a 1 p.m. game.
