Rochester, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team lost a close contest to No. 5 ranked LIU Post Friday night, 1-0.
 
The Redhawks were on their heels in the first half as the Pioneers offense attacked early and often surrendering ten corner kicks in the first half alone. In the first three minutes of the game LIU post was awarded two corner kicks that resulted in shots that easily could have put the Redhawks down early. But starting goalkeeper John Ciavaglia and the back line's scrappy play kept Roberts Wesleyan in the game.
 
In the 13^th minute LIU Post's David Arvidsson found the back of the net from about six yards out off a feed from Harry Pearse for the game's only goal.
 
The Redhawks came out in the second half still fighting off the Pioneer's attack but nearly got on the board following a counter attack. Logan Wood's bending shot in the 50th minute had the keeper beat but just barely grazed by the right post and out of play.
 
Roberts Wesleyan was outshot 19-10 in the game and corner kicks were heavily in favor of LIU Post at 12-5.
 
The Redhawks will host NYIT on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
