Rochester, N.Y. -Â Two first half goals by the New York Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon handed the Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team their ninth loss of the season.
The Bears opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Rory Head hit a one-time shot off a low cross from Patel Krishen.
NYIT continued to put the pressure on the Redhawks defense and scored the game's second goal in the 42nd minute when Martin Sundell collected the ball off a misplay by
John Ciavaglia and shot it into the open net.Â
Robert's Wesleyan offsides trap style defense helped thwart many of the Bear's offensive chances as NYIT was called offsides 13 times, but the Redhawks were not able to connect on any of their chances on the offensive end. NYIT outshot Roberts 14-5 in the game.Â
Ciavaglia helped keep the game within reach making five difficult saves in net.Â
Roberts Wesleyan (3-9-1, 2-5-0 ECC) will travel to play at the University of Bridgeport on Friday with the game slated for 3 p.m.
