Caldwell, N.J. - The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team is on a six game win streak after they shutout Caldwell University 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Twins Maya and
Taylor Rutland, both freshman on the team, scored first half goals just six minutes apart to get the offense moving for the Redhawks and build a comfortable two goal lead. Maya scored her third goal of the season in the 14
th minute of the game when her shot deflected off the right goal post and across the line. Taylor followed the goal up with one of her own in the 20
th minute off an assist from senior
Bella Mitrevski.
The Roberts Wesleyan defense contained any Caldwell attack only allowing the Cougars one shot on goal in the entire first half.
The second half saw Caldwell attempt more shots (9) but starting Redhawk goalkeeper and reigning East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Kelsey Brinkel was only tested two times in net with shots put on frame.
In the 90
th minute Mitrevski added a third goal off an assist from
Sarah Giancursio.
Roberts Wesleyan (8-3-1), ranked No. 4 in the National Christian College Athletic Association polls will host LIU Post on Friday at 5 p.m.
