Syracuse, N.Y. – Since the beginning of the season the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team has been shooting lights out, especially from long-range, but Wednesday afternoon's game at Le Moyne was a different picture as the Redhawks finally cooled off, shooting just over 26-percent from the field as they lost to the Dolphins 55-64.
Roberts Wesleyan's 55 points was the fewest points scored in a game by the team this season. The red-and-black went 8-for-30 from beyond the arc and just 16-for-60 (26.7%) from the field. Le Moyne also struggled from three-point range hitting just 4-for-22 in the contest, but the Dolphins were able to control the inside play with 32 points in the paint in comparison to just 12 by the Redhawks.
Just two players scored in double digits for the Redhawks accounting for over half the team's scoring output. Junior guard
Brooke Fields led in the scoring effort with 20 points and newcomer
Emily Miller added 13 points along with six rebounds.
On the opposing side, Le Moyne's Joanna Dobrovosky had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Dolphins.
Down 33-54 with just under nine minutes left in the fourth quarter the Redhawks went on a 13-0 run to cut the Dolphin's lead to eight points. And at the 2:37 mark a jumper by Fields brought the score to 52-56 but Le Moyne rallied for eight straight points to close the game out.
Roberts Wesleyan has dropped two straight games and falls to 4-3 on the season. They will play next at American International College in Springfield, Mass. on Saturday. Tip off is slated for 1:30 p.m.
