Rochester, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan volleyball team lost in three sets to Bridgeport Friday night, 17-25, 15-25, 23-25.
Courtney Taylor led the Redhawks with nine kills while setter
Elisabeth Rivera added 33 assists.
After falling behind two sets Roberts Wesleyan came out with a renewed intensity in the third set. The Redhawks built a 6-2 lead forcing the Purple Knights to regather with a timeout. In that stretch Taylor had two kills with other kills coming from
Kate Steger and
Anjali Thomson.
Roberts was able to maintain the lead midway through the set, but Bridgeport tied things at 14 all and went on a four point run to take a 17-14 lead. The Redhawks answered with their own four point run just a few points later that included an ace from Rivera to take a 20-18 lead. The teams traded points back and forth to bring the score to 23-23, but the Purple Knights finished the match with two straight kills.
Roberts Wesleyan (8-14, 5-7 ECC) will host Daemen College on Thursday at 7 p.m.
