Rochester, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team battled against Slippery Rock University on Sunday afternoon in a game that saw eight lead changes, but the Redhawks couldn't find a way to win as Slippery Rock claimed the victory, 76-70.

Sophomore guard
Zack Panebianco scored a career-high 27 points in the game on 9-of-18 shooting and 3-for-9 from three point range. 18 of his points came in the second half alone.

The teams went into halftime tied 31-31, but an early three-pointer by Panebianco in the second half gave the Redhawks a 34-33 lead. The lead changed hands several times in the half both neither team let the lead slip away. With just under eight minutes to play in the game a free throw by Panebianco gave the Redhawks a four point lead, 54-50. But Slippery Rock guard Jordan Marrow got hot from deep range, hitting three triples down the stretch to help build a six point lead that Roberts Wesleyan couldn't overcome.

Despite being undersized to the visiting Slippery Rock, the Redhawks were able to outscore them in the paint 34-26 while also causing foul trouble for Slippery Rock big men Christal Malalu and Amir Maddred. Both players fouled out of the contest.

Manny Joseph and
Malik Dare both scored in double digits. Joseph added 13 points and Dare had 12. As a team the Redhawks shot 23-of-59 (39%) from the field.

The Redhawks drop to 0-10 on the season while Slippery Rock moves to 7-4 on the year.

Roberts Wesleyan takes no time off as they travel to face Mercyhurst University tomorrow at 7 p.m.
