Brooke Fields and
Taya Andrews both scored over 20 points to lead the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team to a 72-64 win over Saint Michael's on Saturday afternoon.
Fields, a junior guard had the team-high 22 points in the game coming off the bench while Andrews scored 20 points. Both had 15 points apiece in the first half alone.
The Redhawks pulled away in the game quickly as they headed into the second quarter with a 25-10 advantage. A quick start to the second extended the lead to 31-12, but the Purple Knights were able to capitalize on a cold stretch as the Redhawks didn't score a point over a five minute period. A last second layup by Saint Michael's Samantha Delaney made the score 35-33 heading into the half.
After the Purple Knights held the lead for the majority of the third quarter Roberts Wesleyan began to cut into their six point deficit and regain the lead at the 5:10 mark of the fourth quarter off a layup by Andrews. The freshman also added a crucial three-pointer that gave the team a 66-62 with just over three minutes to play.
Down the stretch Roberts hit 4-of-5 free throws to seal the victory. The team was 16-for-20 (80%) from the line in the game.

Emily Miller was one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. The Purple Knights were led by Leah Spencer who scored 24 points.
Roberts Wesleyan (8-5) continues action on Wednesday, January 4 when they host Mercy College at 6 p.m. in East Coast Conference play.
