READING, Pa. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's bowling team kicked off their 2017-2018 campaign at the Bud Whitman Memorial tournament hosted by Kutztown University. The Redhawks went 2-8 in play over the weekend.
 
The tournament consisted of five matches of the baker format and five matches of traditional match play. Baker format uses the entire team to bowl toward one game. Each player on the five person team will stay in sequence to bowl their frame. In traditional match play each player on the team bowls their own game of ten frames and the scores are summed up for the team's total score.
 
The Redhawks went 1-4 in the baker format and 1-4 in the traditional matches. On Friday Roberts picked up their win against Wilmington College, 843-738 and on Saturday the team defeated St. Francis College of Brookyln, 905-855.
 
Sophomore Nicole Vary bowled a game-high 223 for the Redhawks for the team's top individual score of the weekend.
 
Roberts will head to the Medaille Invitational for their next competition on November 4^th and 5^th.
