Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's volleyball team couldn't pull the upset off against the No. 3 team in the East Region losing to Molloy on Saturday, 3-1 (15-25; 25-23; 17-25; 11-25).
The Redhawks were able to win the second set, but had to come from behind to do so. A four point run by Molloy gave the host team an 8-4 advantage early in the set. The Redhawks answered with a 7-to-1 run to take the lead 12-10. Freshman Grace Detwiler came up huge in that run recording three kills and one block. With the score tied at 23, Detwiler continued to be the spark for Roberts offense and added a kill and an ace to score the final two points of the set giving the Redhawks a 25-23 set win.
Detwiler finished with nine total kills, four blocks, and seven digs.
The Lions were led by right side hitter Hailey Wehr who posted a career-high 18 kills.
Roberts (2-29, 2-11 ECC) head into their final match of the season on Sunday. They will take on Queens College at 12 p.m. in Flushing, N.Y.
