Miller's Double-Double Leads Redhawks to Win Over Lake Erie

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In the second day of the Redhawks Alumni Classic the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team came away with an 81-73 win over Lake Erie College.

Sophomore Emily Miller had her best game of the season pacing the Redhawks with 23 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots. Those are all season-highs for the Buffalo, N.Y. native this season. Miller was 9-of-15 from the field and 2-of-4 from three point range.

The Redhawks were able to build a double digit lead in the third quarter after holding a 34-30 lead at the half. Senior Lucy Covley opened the second half with one of her four three pointers and hit another one just two minutes later to build Roberts' lead to nine. A layup by Necedah James at the 6:47 mark gave the Redhawks a 47-36 lead.

Roberts continued to control the game in the final period of play and extended the lead to 14 with just under eight minutes to play in regulation. Tashayla Sutorius's layup put the Redhawks up 67-53. Lake Erie was able to cut the lead to just six points with 1:27 remaining off a three pointer from senior guard Kayla Gabor, her sixth of the game. But the Redhawks answered with a three of their own on the next possession from Miller to keep the game out of the Storm's reach.

Sophomore Taya Andrews added 16 points for Roberts and Covley finished with 14 points.

Roberts Wesleyan (2-2) will head to Mansfield, Pa. on Wednesday, November 29th for a 5:30 p.m. game against Mansfield University.
