Men's Basketball Wins in OT Thriller Over Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Pa. – Freshman Gintaras Bartaskas scored a career high 27 points in an overtime win over Mansfield on Monday night, 86-80. The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team is now 7-1 on the season.

Bartaskas was on fire from three point range connecting on six of his 11 shots from beyond the arc. The guard finished the game 10-of-16 from the field while also adding in six rebounds.

The Redhawks fought back from a 12 point second half deficit to take a one point lead with just under four minutes left in the contest. Roberts held the lead and looked to be in good position to win the game in regulation with a three point cushion with 12 seconds left on the clock and Mansfield senior forward Matt Tamanosky at the line for two shots. Tamanosky hit the first shot, but his second shot hit the front rim and was tipped in by Mansfield's Jeremiah Worthem to tie the game at 72-72. The Redhawks got off a last second shot but it didn't go, sending the game into overtime.

In overtime the Redhawks took control behind the scoring of Bartaskas who netted seven points in the extra period. Roberts used a 10-2 run to take an 82-74 point lead with 1:20 remaining in the game leaving the Mountaineers little time to make a comeback.

Junior Michael Bush posted a season high in points, steals and assists with 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. Senior Manny Joseph was one rebound shy of a double-double with 13  points and nine rebounds.

The Redhawks will play Mansfield University again on Tuesday in the Voller Athletic Center at 7:30 p.m.
