COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team defeated Saint Michael's College on Friday afternoon, 82-72 to pick up its third straight win and move to 8-4 overall on the season.
All five starters scored in double digits to help pace the offense for Roberts. Leading in the scoring column was sophomore
Taya Andrews who poured in 20 points.
Emily Miller added her seventh double-double of the year with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Miller has posted a double-double in each of the past five games.
The Redhawks never trailed in the game and took their largest lead of 18 points with 4:39 remaining in the third quarter. Saint Michael's was able to cut the Redhawks' lead to five points with just under three minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but senior
Lucy Covley hit a timely three pointer on the next possession to keep the Purple Knights at a distance. Covley finished with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Down the stretch Roberts went 9-of-10 from the free throw line to seal the win.
Junior
Taylor Bynoe and senior
Necedah James scored 13 points and 10 points respectively as the other two members of the starting lineup.
Roberts will play again tomorrow against Saint Anselm with a 2 p.m. tipoff.
