Redhawks Use Big Fourth Quarter to Upset Le Moyne

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team picked up their fourth win of the season on Tuesday night after taking down Le Moyne 63-58.
 
Lucy Covley led the Redhawks with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting including four makes from beyond the arc. Sophomore Emily Miller added 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a block while playing all but three minutes of the game.
 
The Redhawks got off to a slow start, scoring just 19 points in the first half and heading into the second half with an 11 point deficit. Roberts turned the game around in the second half outscoring the Dolphins 44-28. The Redhawks scored 25 points in the fourth quarter alone while holding Le Moyne to just 14 points.
 
In the third quarter the Dolphins expanded their lead to as many as 14 points when they took a 37-23 lead with 7:39 remaining in the game. The Redhawks cut that lead to six at the end of the quarter. Covley and Sara Nady came up with timely three point shots in the fourth quarter to help Roberts take a lead. Nady's three point bucket with 6:26 left on the clock tied the game at 46-46. On their next offensive possession Nady hit another long range shot give the Redhawks a one point lead. The lead changed hands three more times before a three pointer by Covley with 3:13 remaining gave Roberts the final lead of the game.
 
Down the stretch the Redhawks were 5-of-6 from the free throw line to seal the win over the Dolphins.
 
Le Monye finished with three players scoring in double digits. Senior guard McKayla Roberts scored 16 points to pace the Dolphins.
 
On Friday the Redhawks will take on East Coast Conference opponent UDC at 6 p.m. in the Voller Athletic Center.
