Salisbury, N.C. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team fell in their regular season opener on Thursday to Catawba College, 9-11.

Senior attacker
Cassley Jackowski scored five first half goals to lead the team. The Lafayette, N.Y. native also added two assists and totaled 10 shots on the day.

Jackowski put the Redhawks up 2-0 with the first two goals of the contest. But Catawba countered with two goals of their own. Jackowski answered the Indian's attack with two back-to-back goals again while adding in one last goal at the end of the first half to give Roberts a 5-3 lead at the break.

Midway through the second half the Indians used a four goal run to take the lead, 9-6.
Johannah Price's goal with just over four minutes remaining cut the deficit to one goal with the Indians holding on to a 9-10 advantage. But a Catawba goal with 1:38 left in the game sealed the win for the Indians.

Shannon Knapp made 19 saves in the net for the Redhawks.

Roberts Wesleyan (0-1) take on Wheeling Jesuit University on Sunday with a start time of 12 p.m.
