SPARKILL, N.Y.  – The Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team was narrowly defeated by Saint Thomas Aquinas on Saturday, 10-9.

Senior attacker
Cassley Jackowski netted five goals to pace the offense for the Redhawks.

After being down 2-0 early on in the game freshman
Jessica Giancursio got Roberts on the board. Jackowski followed with three straight goals to give the Redhawks a 4-2 advantage. The Spartans retook a 7-6 lead in the second half with 14:18 remaining. Â
Mackenzie Kidder answered for Roberts just two minutes later to tie things at 7-7.

The Spartans three goals in the final 11 minutes was the difference on the scoreboard.
Maddi Chille gave the Redhawks hope with a goal in the final minute of the game but the team wasn't able to tally on one more in the final seconds.

Shannon Knapp finished the game with nine saves.

Roberts will host Lake Erie College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. for the start of a three game home stand.
