ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Following three games on the road, the Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team returned home to take on undefeated Lake Erie College but the Redhawks weren't able to snap the Storm's five game winning streak losing 19-12.
Â
Despite giving up the first three goals of the game the Redhawks found a way to gain a 5-4 lead with 14:11 remaining in the first half off a
Johannah Price goal. But the momentum turned drastically as Lake Erie went on an eight goal run that spanned into the second half to take a 12-5 lead. The difference was too much to make up for Roberts as the Storm answered each of the Redhawks' goals in the second half.
Â
"We stopped communicating on the field," head coach
Kristin Concordia said. "We were able to adjust and get things corrected on the field but it was too late."
Â
Cassley Jackowski and
Johannah Price both scored three goals apiece. Freshman
Jessica Giancursio added two goals, two assists and had five ground balls.
Â
Senior
Shannon Knapp made 12 saves in net.
Â
Roberts Wesleyan will host Tiffin University on Friday for the first night game of the season. The game is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
