Rochester, N.Y. – Playing through freezing temperatures in their home opener, the Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team came away with an East Coast Conference win against Molloy Saturday afternoon, winning 17-11.
Senior attacker
Cassley Jackowski scored five goals for the Redhawks and
Johannah Price added three goals.
Roberts Wesleyan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter with goals by Price,
Jessica Giancursio and
Maddi Chille. Giancursio would score what would be the game-winner with 7:15 remaining in the second half to make the score 12-9. The Penfield, N.Y. native finished with two goals and two assists in the game.
Goalkeeper
Shannon Knapp got the win in net while posting 18 saves on the day.
The Lions outshot the Redhawks 38-27. Jessica Markowitz led Molloy with six goals.
Roberts Wesleyan (1-2) picks up their first win of the season and will host Merrimack College on Sunday, March 12. The game is slated to begin at noon.
